Check out my latest auctions!

Oscar

I am selling some incredible things this week in my eBay store, Western Civilization by Birdie.

Don't miss:

An oil painting of the Forked Lightning Ranch painted by Greer Garson's personal maid
A mysterious and spiritually protective White Buffalo Warrior Kachina
A natural-earth painting (circa 1972) of a Crown Dancer by a Mescalero Apache
Two vintage cast iron miniature duck decoys
A neighing horse cookie jar - yes, he really makes noise!

Plus first editions of a pile of wonderful books, cow horns, authentic western decor and much, much more....

What FUN!! These are some wonderful auction items, Birdie! I hope you do great with them.

I have a strange experience to report. This is completely true:

I keep wanting to sell my Mudhead kachina on eBay. But - and the boys can swear this is how it is - every time I try to list him, my computer freezes. I'm not kidding. I have tried about six times now. And each time, I can't upload a photo to eBay, or finish writing his description. FREEZE! It's as if a cop is saying "Put your hands in the air, Jaworski!" I have managed to list other things between the Mudhead attempts, and all is fine. But the moment I move toward sending him on his merry way, bam!

He won't let me find him another home.

Hmmm... the White Buffalo is OK with leaving... but the Mudhead must stay. Strange... but perhaps Mudhead would enjoy a vacation in San Clemente. Check and maybe we can make a private deal.

By the way... Aloha from Waikiki!

;D

Perhaps Mudhead doesn't like this sort of commerce and prefers exchange - gift for gift. What could we bid?

I bid a poem. I'll write Mudhead a poem if he would agree to dance by my altar.

Other bids?

I cannot believe that nobody is bidding on the neighing horse cookie jar! What zup, everybody?!! That's a classic big of Americana Kitsch, sure to entertain your friends and family for generations.

( uh, no... I didn't bid on it either. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate its charms!)

Still alive?

Mike, I have it on good authority that indeed, she is still alive. Barely surfacing for air from time to time, but still treading water. Methinks we'd best not hold our collective breath for frequent up-dates. Anyone have any good leads on a twelve step program for folks undergoing Birdie withdrawal?

12 Step Program from Birdie withdrawl:
Step 1) Open Bottle of Tequilla
Step 2) Pour generous shot
Step 3) Toast to Birdie: "I am Powerless to my need for Birdie Words"
Step 4) Drink shot
Step 5) Pour generoush sot
Step 6) Toast to Birdie: "I am Still Powerlesh to my need for Birdie Words. I wish she werer here for some of this tequilla."
Step 7) Drink shop
Step 8) Poor generus shock
Step 9) Toast to Birdie: "I am Very Powerlessss Still Powerlesh to my Birdies Wordiss. I wish she hered some of dish tequilla."

Step 11) Poormoredrinknow
Step 12) zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm up in Penasco, at the Wise Fool theatre, on an immersion trip with my students and co-teacher. I found some wifi here, unbelievable. Mike, that is the saddest article I have read in a while. I love my birds and miss them while I'm gone.

Life is okay, too busy, but okay. I am not sure that this is my path. I know I'm doing a good job. But I miss writing. And my friends. This school requires a lifestyle, not a simple 40 hours a week. I'll keep trying to be better at all these things.

Talk to everyone later. I am seriously considering deleting my blogs. I don't have time, and can't see time in my future . Perhaps it is time for me to move on to new things.

Wow... That was an incredible but sad story. Alex knew he wouldn't see her the next day. One smart bird, that!

Speaking of smart Bird... you hang in there Birdie! Do what you need to do. I know you will do great at whatever it is... (...and yes, I think you should continue teaching... the next gen needs it.)

Wise Fool Theatre... sounds like a place I should hang out at.

I won the White Buffalo Kachina! and the bird tail feathers! Hooray for ebay auctions!

Let's all send vibes of peace and plenty to Birdie, in hopes that she survives the rigors of her career change..... ooommmmmm...... peeeeeeeace....... pleeeenty.......

I saw that bird article too and thought of Ramses. I have a feeling Ramses may have outshone even Alex in the vocabulary department.

Congratulations on winning those auctions, Bonnie!

And Birdie, about the blog(s)...why not just let 'em sit here? You may well need a place to vent/guffaw and or simply snort out loud from time to time -- where better than among friends, right gang? No one expects you to be adding substantial "content" under your current circumstances. You've set a very high bar for yourself over the years, but I doubt if anyone who's been reading you over time would presume that could continue now that you're up to your ears in a 9-5 (more likely a 6-9!) job.

It's cool just to have a place here for your handful of loyal followers/friends to hang out and maybe re-group from time to time just for a passing hug whenever you feel like checking in.

Anyone else have some thoughts on this?

Ditto on letting the blogs sit, Carroll. I expressed these thoughts to Birdie myself. Time to go with the flow, and take it easy. It will all develop into something new at its own pace.
